MATURE BUFFALO BULL HUNT

SOUTH TEXAS

BUFFALO BULL:  THE TROPHY OF A LIFETIME

The bison is the largest land mammal to roam North America since the ice age, and was last hunted on our ranch by native American Indians over 170 years ago.  The buffalo disappeared almost 2 centuries ago, but has returned, and is healthier and bigger than ever.  This animal can weigh up to 2000 lbs, and measures up to 6 feet at the shoulder, and from nose to rump, up to 10 feet!  You will be hunting mature bulls.

This is a one day hunt where you will spot and stalk your beast in the same manner as the Indians did centuries ago.  You can hunt with rifle, pistol, bow, or spear.  If you are unsuccessful in taking your trophy the first day, you can add up to 2 more days at no additional cost, until you have harvested your bull.

Meals and lodging are not provided on the ranch.

Bison tastes great! Most people interviewed feel Bison is the most flavorful meat they have ever tasted, with a sweeter and richer flavor than beef. Bison is naturally flavorful and tender and can be prepared much the same as beef.

bison steak VALUE
Bison falls into the gourmet or specialty meat category at your supermarket or meat market. The value of Bison is not what you pay, but what you get in return. Nutritionally you are getting more protein and nutrients with fewer calories and less fat. Bison is a dense meat that tends to satisfy you more while eating less.

After you buffalo hunt, you can add a ram hunt or a Big Mean Wild Texas Hog Hunt for only $299, via buy-it-now!

Texas has more wild hogs than any other state. It is common to see as many as 100 hogs during your hunt! You can hunt our big, mean, wild Texas hogs with bow, rifle, shotgun, pistol, or knife depending on what you are hunting for. Our ranch hand will clean your kill for only $30, or you can do it yourself. Mounts can be done locally and shipped to you in less than sixty days.

Explore all or part of 9 miles of deep creek bottoms and find out where the big hogs are hiding. You can go back in the evening with a portable blind and wait for the big one to come your way.

It's not just hogs at our ranch! The ranch has fur-bearing animals including rabbit, possum, racoon, gopher, armadillo, coyote, fox, bobcat, and ringtail cat. Exotic animals from around the world have been imported to our ranch. Our herds include Axis Deer, Fallow Deer, Scimitar-Horned Oryx, Red Deer, Blackbuck, Exotic Rams, Rocky Mountain Elk, and Whitetail Deer, just to name a few. Native animals can only be hunted when in season.

Kill a piglet and we will cook it over the campfire for you and your group. You've never tasted anything so so good in your entire life! Wild suckling piglet roasted over a mesquite campfire, stuffed with Texas wild rice, whole hog link sausage, homegrown mushrooms, maybe a quail or two, and a few other secret ingredients! Our hogs will give you the best wild hog sausage you have ever tasted! The meat can be processed locally and overnighted to your home.

Not Included in your weekend hunt package are transportation to and from the ranch, you hunting license, and gratuity for your guide.  The cost of a 5 day, non-resident license for buffalo, hogs, varmints, rams and exotics is $45, and can be bought from Texas Parks and wildlife over the phone.  Follow the link below to purchase your license.

Your weekend begins with your arrival at noon on Friday.  After a brief orientation, Your hunt will begin at 2 pm.  You will be taken to areas of the ranch where our guides have located your game.  You and your hunting party will be given additional instructions by your guide, and your spot and stalk hunting will commence.

You will be tracking your game in native pecan bottoms, ancient oak forests, and miles of majestic mesquites.  After you have harvested your bull buffalo, and you choose to add an exciting, Big Mean Wild Texas Hog Hunt, you have much more adventure awaiting you over the next hill!

Much of your game will be hiding in our deep native grasslands.  You must always be prepared, as it is common to get within 5-10 feet of a pack of hogs hiding in the grass.  Many hunters have brought back stories of walking up on 10-20 hogs and being so startled, they never raised their gun!

After dinner at sundown, your guide will take you back into the interior of the ranch for a night of hair-raising action!  Most nights are greeted by the sounds of howling coyotes from every possible direction.  Bring your rifles, bring your pistols, and if all else fails, have your Bowie knife ready!  During your night hunt, be prepared to be surrounded by big mean wild Texas hogs.  The big boars only move under the cover of night.  You will want to move your spotlights on the edge of the forests, as this is where the cats are prowling.  Call them in, and take a trophy of a lifetime.  They are always there, and they are always watching you!  On a quiet, windless night, the forest is as loud with wild game as a busy city street.  More than a few hunters have lost their nerve to hunt the wilds of our moonlit wilderness!  The record this year for lost nerve at night is but a short 20 minutes.

Reveille is about an hour before sunrise.  This will give you time for breakfast and time to trade stories of your previous night’s adventure with your fellow hunters.  By sunrise, you will be back in our game- laden fields tracking your game.  Early mornings are greeted with the bugling of the elk, or the distant sounds of our trophy rams butting heads for dominance.  During your morning adventure, you will encounter many species of trophy game, such as majestic axis and fallow deer, huge red stags, and graceful Texas blackbuck, just to name a few.

At this point, your hunt is only half-way through!  If you think the first half of your hunt was awesome, wait until your second night!  If you survived the first night, you may be ready for what is waiting for you down in the “badlands”!

For those that have survived up to Sunday morning, there is yet more to experience for those that want more.  Ask your guide about “dead man’s” hunt, and he will tell you the tale.  For those that must leave, checkout is noon on Sunday, but for those that can stay, the next adventure is just over the next ridge!

With the added hog or ram hunt, you can stay on the ranch in a brand new bunkhouse for $35 per day per hunter.  While resting up between hunts and cooling down in the air conditioning, you have 500 channels of satellite tv to keep you busy.

There is no extra charge to bring your rv, and use our hook-ups, or bring your tent and stay in our campground.

All of your meals and snacks are optional for $35 per day during your stay, and typically include coffee, orange juice, milk, cereal, breakfast sausage biscuits, and toast for breakfast. Hamburgers, bbq sandwiches, chips, soft drinks, and a few other choices for lunch, and either a roasted suckling piglet, Texas BBQ, or one of the local favorites cooked over the campfire for dinner.
